#SpringCleanCT 2023 off to a good start, removing 800 bags of refuse in the first week

The #SpringCleanCT campaign aims to mobilise communities against illegal dumping and littering. The City, with the help of various organisations, residents and businesses, has managed to get 800 bags of refuse removed from communities so far. We have also intensified cleansing operations to prepare for the festive season. This is in addition to the regular cleaning operations already taking place throughout the year. 

The City of Cape Town is encouraging all residents to get on board with our #SpringCleanCT campaign this year by organising clean-ups in their area, as well as reporting people who litter and dump.  

In addition, although it is early days, intensified cleansing efforts linked to the #SpringCleanCT campaign have resulted in 800 bags of litter being removed so far.

'Littering and dumping are sometimes justified by perpetrators as job creation, but they do not think of the impact litter and dumping has on the health and well-being of the community. Organising clean-ups and reporting these individuals to the authorities shows that there are also victims of dumping, and that communities want to create more positive environments for human potential to flourish. Let's all work together to help keep Cape Town clean. 

'Residents who are tired of their area being treated like a dump site are encouraged to use the 24-hour toll-free number (0800 110077) for illegal dumping tip-offs. If your tip-off leads to an arrest you will be eligible for a reward.
